JD Boyd most recently comes to Pono from Texas Wesleyan University. In his first season as an assistant coach, his team won the SAC Conference Tournament and went to the first round of nationals! He comes with a wealth of knowledge as both a head and assistant coach at the junior college and division one levels. Before TXWes, he was at Weatherford College as the Volunteer Assistant Coach in the fall of 2023. During his time with the Coyotes he helped with game days, took stats, and assisted with on-campus recruiting. The Coyotes had an excellent season winning their conference title and finishing 8th in the nation at nationals.

Before Weatherford College, Boyd (Wisener) was the Head Volleyball Coach at Eastern Wyoming College and the University of South Carolina Sumter where he set up and established the school’s first ever volleyball program. He has also served as an Assistant Coach for Coastal Bend College in Beeville, Texas, Volunteer Assistant Coach at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and worked many years as a college camp coach at many universities in Texas with the most recent at Texas A&M University.

As the Assistant Coach at Coastal Bend College, Wisener helped lead the Cougars to a post season appearance in Region XIV. During that time, his athletes also received multiple academic awards both on and off the court.

During his two years as the volunteer assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin State University the Ladyjacks claimed the Southland Conference regular season title. While on the staff, the Ladyjacks earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2018 (playing the University of Texas) and the NIVC tournament in 2017.

He also brings much experience on the club side as well. He has coached the East Texas Juniors Volleyball Club in (Nacogdoches, Texas), at Guns Up Volleyball Club (Lubbock, Texas), Victory Volleyball Club (Plano, Texas), and Frisco Flyers Volleyball Club (Frisco, Texas). He was previously on staff at Clutch Volleyball Club as an assistant coach for 16.2.

His playing experience includes time with the Texas Tech men’s volleyball club team where he helped lead the team to the title of 2015-16 Most Improved Club of the Year. Wisener was a two-year starter for the team while doubling as club president.

During his time at Wisener he received his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, with a minor in English, from Texas Tech University and his Masters of Science in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University.
